  • OBD II compatability

Some catalytic converters say that theyre OBD II compatible. Do I need this or can I go with a regular universal cat. Im trying to go with the cat thats 14" and 2.5 in and out with an 80 series flowmaster 2.5 in, dual 2.5 out muffler. Any ideas on how good this will work, or whether or not to get them from summit. any help appreciated.

Or is this just needed if you get a missions test?
      Because I don't get them.

I think it refers to whether it has an air tube attachment and/or an o2 sensor bung in it.

My catco came with an air tube attachment, that was sealed off and not needed on my '98. I used an o2 simulator and did not get a bung welded in.

Hey man, you have two choices.

            1. Run a non-obd2 compatible cat and a O2 simulator

            2. Run an obd2 compatible cat

There are a few that have gotten away w/ out SES lights by running the non-obd2 cat w/ out the simulator. But they are few & far between.

I run the simulator. If you get an ses code, have it cleared and it will not likely come back (I had one come from the simulator, I cleared it & have not had one since)

would there be any loss in performance using the obdII compatible cat as opposed to the regular one and an o2 simulator.
Also, how much performance will I lose using regularly bent pipe between the cat and muffler instead of mandrel bent piping?
