• Washed CAI Filters.

Well, earlier today, I washed out my SLP CAI filters and WOW! those things were dirty. Anyways, I took it out later on in the evening and WHOA! I was missing out on alot of HP, TQ. I also took off the cover for the CAI. I noticed at least 12 hp and 15 tq diffrence. It seems very easy to break the tires lose. :D

Yeah, I added my CAI the other day, and I just wanted my CAI on, well I didnt bother washing the filters, when installed I noticed about 7 hp and 10 tq gain. I know this because my car is completly stock otherwise. Well, after cleaning them, I took it WOT and I could really feel more hp and tq. I couldnt believe it.

LoL. What A loser. Im sorry but 1st u flame on me about cleaning the filters, now uve gotten mass gains from cleaning them, I seriously doubt u lost that much HP from dirty filters. Not even SLP hypes their product as much as u just did, 7hp when u 1st put it on then 12 more from a clean filter, a grand total of "AT LEAST" 19 hp. LoL. I love it. And you say u'll dyno after u put the headers on but in ur performance profile u list them as on. I know the general rule is if u have nothing helpful to say - say nothing, but Naptown, Im sure an F-body is a big upgrade from your accord. But U will never be someone I respect on this forum, or on the street. And I have love for any F-body.

Wow, 12hp and 15tq over the 7hp and ??tq you had before. Where did you get these numbers again? G-Tech? Kinda odd you gained, or even feel like you gained, that much from just an intake. I have 3" catback with CAI, and I maybe gained what you say you gained with just your intake. And that cover is there for a reason. Without that cover you probably lost power if anything because you would be sucking in engine heat. It would also be a shame for somethin' to fly up in the engine bay and screw everything all to hell. And how does a intake make it easier to break the tires loose? I'm also stumped on this one...

On the 96-97 SLP CAI, there's a block-off plate that goes over where the filters are to cover the hole, blocking off the filters from the rest of the engine and keeping debris from flying up in the engine bay...

im pretty ture that the actual point of that cover is to keep warm air out of the well where the cai is sucking in the air. Colder air = more hp... so in theory, taking off the cover would mean less hp's

now... if youre talkin about the splashguard thats a whole different ballgame slugger

Yeah, hes right, it's a heat shield plate. not to keep debris from flying up. Unless you take the plastic piece under the car off there's no debris you'd need to worry about. How can you feel hp difference? have you ever dynoed your car?

I can feel the diffrence, because the CAI was my first and only mod. Also, I will most likley put the shield back on when winter is through.

I know the main purpose is to keep engine heat away from the filters...but I think some people took off the splash guards to put the filter on (not sure if they put them back on) so it could also serve as something to keep debris out...but yes I know the main purpose is to keep engine heat out...

When driving do you think that hot air gets inside of that little cubby hole or do you think it goes underneth the car? Well like I said its curently in the 30's so Ill put it back on whne its like 60's
