  • FTRA questions.......

Whats up guys. Im getting ready to buy one of the "ram air" kits made for the 98+ f-bodies but i have a few questions for those who currently own them.

I live in Florida where it rains quite a bit. Do you have to block off the kit everytime it rains? Or only when it rains heavily? Is rain getting into the motor a bad issue with it installed without the blockoff plate on?

Also since it looks like its gonna sit right in front of the radiator, is the car going to run hotter all the time?

Also what kind of difference in pickup did u notice with it installed?

    Thanks.

It rains a lot here in Houston and I have never put the block off plate in the 3 years I have had it. Still have to be careful not to drive through any water that is going to be within 2 or 3 inches of your bumper.

No... the car does not run any warmer.

I noticed quite a big difference after I installed it... very worth wild mod. COmbined with your Whisper lid it will run great. :D

Cool thanks. I really wanted this to complete my intake modification but I freaked once I started to read about how low the mouth of the intake was and whether or not water would've been an issue.

Think I'll be buying this very soon.

I've had mine on for over a year now. unless you are going through water that is up to the bottom of the car, u shouldn't have to worry about using the block-off plate.

the FTRA opening sits forward enough that airflow to the radiator is still very good.

I noticed a difference in throttle response, as well as power in the street and at highway speeds.
