After taking all the intake parts off, how do you remove this part so you can get to and clean the throttle body? I can't remove the entire TB cuzz I can't afford another gasket at the moment.
\"Well, we don\'t care how bad-*** some dude\'s N/A Honda S2000 motor is; if you go up against 900+ pushrod ponies and 750 pounds of earth-shaking torque with a wrong-wheel-drive econobox, you\'re gonna get a fast and furious old-school ***-whipping.\"
Get a pair of needle nosed pliars. Att he front of the Throttle Body is a very thin metal snap ring. It's a pain to take out, but once you do, you can gently, GENTLY pull out the screen.
I think I damaged one or two fins in the MAF screen when I pulled it out.

actually since you have a 1997 you would probably have better results leaving the MAF screen in, as its purpose is to straighten airflow before the sensor. On a straight throttle body application with a lid induction system you might be able to get away with no screen, but on a 97 with that elbow right in front of the throttlebody you will most likely get erratic MAF sensor readings which isnt worth the hundreth of a horsepower you will get from less intake restriction

Taking out the MAF screen is dangerous. My roommate with a 01 SS had a rock fly up and go through the filter and hit the screen. I feel sorry for anyone silly enough to remove something designed to protect the engine internals over a less than 1 HP gain. It's a worthless mod that does nothing.
MAF screen has VERY different effects on new / old cars and stick / auto cars. My car, stick, in gear, wanted to be at like 1500 rpms without the screen, so it raced around parking lots when I was trying to idle. Screen back in, no probs.
The MAF screen always saves my engine from eating a few pesky bugs that get passed my filter so I'll leave mine in. I noticed no difference when I ran without mine.

whip it out. I took my MAF screen out, and didn't notice a change. I actually think i may have lost some torque. If your dyno sheets prove it ill prolly put it back in.
MAF! is pointless on angle TB car's. I pulled mine and had nothing but problems after the cam so I put it back in.

run TWO and THREE were WITHOUT the MAF screen...just so people couldn't say "uhh well the PCM had to compensate for the airflow."
Hey guys. For starters I’ve always been a big car guy, I love all types of cars and can appreciate all types of engineering. I’ve always been a Chevy...
