• header sound???

ok im really paroniod. i just replaced my gasket on my pacesetter on the passenger side. when i rev it up in park, i dont hear a leak or anythin, even when i rev it pretty hard. But when im driving, i hear a light spittin sound from the engine bay area. Is this natural with headers?? there is so much noise in the engine bay, cant figure out whats what no more.

hard to say, could just be you being paranoid. if it seems to be coming from the driver's side is probably egr. get a long piece of plastic pipe, put it to your ear and move it around the engine bay with the engine running, listen for the spitting noise... and watch for those belts. header leaks are quite common and not always easy to fix. good luck. try tightening down your headers with them warm and see if that helps anything.

I've got a problem with the EGR pipe.
Thing is, it looks like the bit on the headers that it mounts to seems to be in a slightly different place to stock and the pipe itself won't fit correctly to the headers - meaning I get a leak.
What with the rubbing with the steering column - despite adjustment, I can't say i'm particularly impressed with my Pacesetters.

Antman > i had same problem, egr leaks and the rubbing with the steering column. but, for the steering column, theres a bolt by the headers on the column, loosen the bolt and you fcan adjust the steering column a bit, just enough to get past the headers, then tighten it again and you're set. for the leak, make sure yout get it in there tight enough and if it still leaks you can get one of those exhasut wrap kits from like autozone or some auto place and try that. i had to use that on mine and it helped.

pacesetters seem to be hit or miss, depending on when you bought them. my set went in fine; except i had to ream the EGR bung. everything else lined up fine.

I've already made that adjustment to the Steering column - as far forward as it will go and it STILL rubs.

Thought about playing with the lower joint, but I can't figure out how to get that darn plastic shroud off.

Why do motor manufacturers insist on using clips that do up but won't undo?

Only problem I have/had is the stupid EGR. Still leaks, so annoying... I'll get it fixed permanently soon.

the only common problem i know of is the egr connection. it sucks and hard to get rid of. i welded mine closed with a egr removal plate. the steering column thing isnt a constant problem and no, its not a where you bought them thing, what does where you bought them have to do with anything?
