If the TB is the bottleneck in the flow path, then changing to a larger TB might help. However, the cross sectional area of the plenum and the port runners may be the real restriction.

The only way to really know is to do a series of flow bench tests - bare head, head + manifold, head + manifold + plenum, head + manifold + plenum + TB. If the last test w/ TB doesn't change the flow reading significantly, then the TB isn't a big factor and changing to a larger TB wouldn't make any difference except to your wallet.

maybe modify the intake plenum also, the plenum itself bottlenecks, I think Tiago's nutek setup works probable the best of any 3.4L around.

Agreed. The upper intake manifold of the 3.4L has to be one of the weak points of the engine & the reason it doesn't make power as easily as the 3.8 does. The swap to the LT1 TB & revised plenum on Tiago's setup is a step in the right direction in order to squeeze more power from the 3.4L.

What is different about his plenum besides the LT1 throttle body? Is it ported? Any other differences? I have a LT1 TB on mine but that is all it is modified.

basically the hole in the plenum is pretty close to the same size of the hole in the TB. You put a bigger TBon and the intake plenum hole is still the same size as the old TB, maybe port it, or do what's done on Tiago's car and modify it so its bigger, and more air can get in.
