  • well, SOMETHING'S rattling...

I started my car up and drove it home from work tonight...noticed i was getting a really awful buzz/rattle from 2-3.5K rpms. Almost like there was a nasty leak, or a hole somewhere. Well, I get home and check it out...popped the hood, everything underhood sounded normal. The muffler sounded extremely rumbly, more than before. All the hangers and everything were secure. Up around that cat/y pipe it is a LOT louder and rougher than usual. Up there it sounds almost like a straight pipe. However, I cound't see/feel / hear exactly where this noise was coming from. Checked the oil level, it was just a hair low from full on the dipstick. There was a very very small bit of oil on the A? or K? arm by the brake sensor, or at least it looked that way. ALthough, I probably picked that up on the way home. I am totally stumped. The muffler was also HOT.
    any ideas?

update: i think it's just rattling really hard/bad. the I pipe rattles from the muffler to the cat...so i gotta figure something out...any ideas?

I've had two two rattles. With me 1) was the antenna being loose, though it orginally sounded like the exhaust was rattling. 2) was a clamp coming loose. Fixed both and have had no rattles since.
