  • SPL CAI Problems.

Ever since I installed my CAI my Service engine light has been on. I think its cause my SLP sensor hole doesnt fit my stock air sensor very well. ( possibly leaking air ) but I was wondering what most people did with their stock sensor to get it to fit into the slp. On my slp all there is is a hole for the sensor to slip in, no connection like the stock box. so I shaved it a bit and it fits decently. What did the rest of u do

Are you talking about the 02 sensor? I removed my whole 02sensor unit from the stock airbox then I put it into the little hole in the 1LE elbow then connected it and it was fine. Im not sure if this is what you are talking aobut.

i believe you are describing the iat (intake air temp) sensor. if you are getting a check engine light, its not likely due to air leaks. during the shaving operation you probably damaged the sensor (or, hopefully not, the wiring). a new sensor is pretty cheap ($12 or so). when i put on my whisper lid i needed to lubricate the sensor with a little dish liquid (dont use an oil based lubricant) to get it into the rubber boot on the intake piping.

You know I was curious about the same thing when I installed my SLP.. the instructions don't say anything about the sensor really I had to figure it out on my own. I took the one out of the airbox as well and had a large of problem of getting it to rech the hold on the SLP.. I fianlly got it in there though. THey shoudl put that thing on the right side not the left.

yeh, a leak will cause it to trip if its affecting temp. but the reading im getting is something like a temp offset air intake and an overactive reading either intake or maf?
