• It really is quite amazing how the throttle body screen makes a difference

Well, not too long ago I had a nitrous explosion and I blew apart my screen so for a couple days (just over a week) I ran w/o one.
I remember back in the day removing it but the idle just plain sucked so I reinstalled it.
Well I drove around like this recently.
The idle sucked!!!
I would come to a stop and the idle would bounce up and down and just run like crap.
Well it snowed recently and the bird is covered in snow.
Since I'm lazy to melt the snow I just started the car and let it idle in the driveway.
Well the bird was in front of the garage pointing nose first. My room is at the end of the garage so as I continued to watch tv I listened to the rpm's fluctuate by 200-300 rpm's. I let it do that for 20 min.
I then went out and installed the tb screen and started it up.
It idles perfect now.
It stays at one specific rpm, no fluctuating

Removing the tb screen in my opinion is just a waste of time and becomes an annoyance.

Just thought I'd post this

I wonder why my idle is so high? It idled at around 1-1.1k before I took out the screen and now it flunctuates between 900-1.3k rpms...

Well, its a throttle body screen, sooooo in the throttle body
Just remove the plastic bits in front of the throttle body and viola.
The screen is held in by a ring.

When i went through my TB dilemma i left my MAF out for at least a month. When I first took it out i didn't notice anything because the car felt better with a clean TB and new plugs. I guess I got use to driving it the new way that I didn't noticed the strange idle like you did. Funny part is I too just put my screen back in a few days ago when i took off my CAI to inspect. Feels a lot better now.

i've never touched the tb screen, but in cold weather my rpm's fluctuate anyway, i though this was just normal. ??

maybe it's because the intake on the 95-87 is angled and the 98-02 is straight.

95-98, not 95-97 (which is what you meant i think), and definetely not 95-87

I didnt ever take my screen out properly. I jammed a screw driver in the screen and pulled. Then the whole screen came out. Do you think I would be able to buy a new one and install it or did I damage something?
