Yeah you can't feel 5rwhp, trust me, but the dyno confirmed this TWICE on my 2000 Firebird A4 I owned.

i removed mine. havent had a problem yet and to me when i did it it definately felt a lot better when accelerating. especially if you have an exhaust it would wake up things a little. i helped my friend do it and you could tell the difference and he has no problems. mine is a 2000 and his is a 1998. he also has 70,xxx miles on it  but no rough idleing on it or nothing. try it! if you dont like it, pop it back on.98 Camaro V6

I've got a 99 Camaro. I too have removed the screen. Took it out a little over 10K miles back. No problems from it at all. The idle didn't get rough on me. And fuel economy, well, my last road trip (WV to NC) got me 27MPG at 80MPH in and out of the throttle quite a bit and I still get about 20-22 around town. Again, the gains are negatable, but I could notice a very slight difference on stock exhaust, but I also got rid of the air bellows to straighten things out a bit. I've had no problems thus far, and the car does sound better with the screen and the bellows (silencer) removed. I say Go For It! If you don't like it, just put it back in.

I have mine out of my MAF, and I believe it has helped, and given me a little more chop to the idle. I just now started thinking about something, though. What if we could take a resistance reading of the MAF at a known temperature, and rig a resistor in parallel via manual switch, so that we could lower the resistance at will, and trick the car into thinking that more air is entering the engine. It would respond by leaving the injectors open for longer periods, and richen the fuel mixture, giving more power. Of course, some testing would have to be done to hash out the specifics.

(the computer has more air than it thinks so too much air for the same amount of fuel?)FRA, Whisper Lid, K&N Filter,MAF Screen removed...
My camaro can speak french!

Just pulled mine out, got tired of just reading about it :)
Hint for removal (at least on my 2001): Make sure car is well warmed up (been said before), and:
Instead of trying to pry it out from the front, or taking the whole TB out, unscrew and remove the MAF sensor itself (2 philips screws). Use your fingers to carefully push it out from the inside. No damage..
(Next up, M5 and diffy fluid changes, its 35k maintenance time!)

what year is your car??? if it is 98 and above, just get a small knife, and find where the ring is broken. then just kinda skim it. it should pop off the ring. after that, get a couple of paperclips and put one on top, and the other one on the bottom. pull out at the same time and it should come out. for some reason you cant just push from one side and have it pop out.98 Camaro V6

I just took it out tonight after reading all the opinions (with tad damage), at first it idled normal then I heard it dip and return and dip and it started to idle a little off but it also made me think MUSCLE CAR! lol like a bad arse mofo engine waiting at the line for the green light. I like it... of course I haven't driven but about 30 mins and just put some gas in it... I'll tell you about my mileage later but for now heck I spend 1.78 on Premium a gallon and I usually put in $20 every couple days... and I didn't notice any difference in performance though...96 3.8L V6 Camaro 5-Speed
Vroom Vroom
No Power Doors / No Power Locks
Removed Jack and Spare
CarDomain - Mikerob283
