I would change mine every oil change. IMO a K&N is worth the investment just gotta get the recharge kits and they will last a long time. They are like 30-40 bucks from autozone if im not mistaken.
Hope this helps---

Air filters are usualy good for 2yr/30K miles, unless you live in a dusty environment. If you just got the car, a K&N is a good investment unless you plan on putting in an intake, in which case I'd say don't bother and just save for the intake.http://www.cardomain.com/id/kefkafloyd
Red 1997 Pontiac Firebird 3.8L A4 w/ Y87

yeah, no kidding. K&N filter is a good investment and they will last awhile cause you can clean them and throw it back in

Come on people use common sense. If the air filter looks like it needs to be replaced, replace it. If not leave it in there. It isn't rocket sciences its a clean or dirty piecee of paper. Depends on the filter Most look like really cheap paper. From a white to a grey if they ARE paper.00\' firebird v6 5spd
201rwhp ---- 230 rwtq
\"Everyday I grow stronger...and further from you.\"
WARNING: Do not take any of my comments seriously unless they are technical in nature and then only at your own risk

K&N is worth the money if you plan on doing mods to improve performace otherwise just get the paper style.2001 Arctic White Firebird With Black Drop Top

3:42 Gears
Zexel LSD
BMR upper A-Arms
Trans Am exhaust with 3\" I-pipe and cutout
Modified intake
Mecham Hood
Trans Go shift kit
Making rear control arms and panhard

Remember, a new airfilter won't give you more HP (unless yours was really clogged). The stock intakes in our cars are pretty restrictive... CAI for 93-97 and new lids for 98+ are wise investments for real horsepower boosts. If you have a 93-97, CAI would most likely use cone filters, so that K&N you just bought would be a waste of money. The 98+ guys have the lids, though, and you can keep using the rectangular airfilter with the whisper lid type systems.http://www.cardomain.com/id/kefkafloyd
Red 1997 Pontiac Firebird 3.8L A4 w/ Y87
