I agree with what you are saying but I dont see how leaving it open would hurt anything. If the engine uses exhaust gas that is lets say 600* to cool the combustion chamber wouldnt using air that is say 300* from under the hood result in cooler combustion chambers and a better running engine? I realize it does nothing for full throttle acceleration but it would be a better way of cooling the cyclinders. thats just what I was thinking. also how would you know if your egr was staying open during WOT? thanks.

You'd have severe power loss. The egr puts gas into the engine that can't be combusted. There is no reason to have the EGR bringing in outside air. The air will be almost as cool as the air coming into the intake and it will be unfiltered, with no pressure on it. Basically creating bad things in the intake manifold when the EGR opens the piping. Imagine your intake manifold trying to suck air from a side route instead of flowing like it should. Only reason the egr works like it is is because the exhaust gases keep steady pressure on the valve so when it opens they force their way in; the intake doesn't HAVE to create a vacuum to get them. You'd be better of blocking it off and letting the air flow normally at all times from the TB.00\' firebird v6 5spd<br />201rwhp ---- 230 rwtq<br />\"Everyday I grow stronger...and further from you.\"<br />WARNING: Do not take any of my comments seriously unless they are technical in nature and then only at your own risk

take it out, all emission parts steels horse power
but block it both ways, and i think if you leave the egr wired , it won`t put the ses on
on the other hand, i heard that in the states you can not take the emission of the car but here in aruba you can make any modification you want with your car since we dont need emission here
because its a small island and its windy , so we do not have corbon monoxide dangers

FWIW, here's a pic of my engine bay with the EGR removed. It really does clear up alot of space. http://home.cfl.rr.com/mkaprocki/Camaro/EGR.jpgMatt

Im assuming that the !EGR is a no-no for passings emmissions? even if I get the codes taken care of what will happen with a visual inspection? DO they look in your engine bay and nod their head put a check in a little box next to EGR on their clipboards, or will they even notice?\'01 Mineral Grey SVT Cobra<br />-former F-body owner
