Ok, heres what i was thinking... would it be a better idea to instead of getting a full 2.75 inch exaust, to just put a 2.25 inch exaust cutout in the i-pipe that you could open and close from inside the car. That way, you could have all your down low torque, and then you could open it up at high rpms. Would the open 2.25 inch cutout be about equal to a 2.75 or at least a 2.5 with a muffler on it?
It would be all the benefits of having the 2.25 torque down low with the benefits of the 2.75 inch pipe on the high end... right?
I had thought about trying to make a window switch work, to open the cutout at various times throught the rpm band. Besides your car sounding like it is exploding over and over, I doubt that it would give you allot of gain. I experienced loss on all levels with my cutout open, it is before the muffler but after the cat, it sounded bad arse though.
FYI: if the cutout is before the cat it is illegal, if you were to get pulled over at the street races and they used that lovely stick with a mirror at the end youd be screwed (dont ask me how I know this ) all in all id be really self conscious driving with an I-pipe cutout, would be easier with an electroic cutout because you can close it if you get pulled over. All in all I experienced no performance gains, just volume and intimidation.
