i'm looking to get the magnaflow cat for my 3.8 but i've heard that it gets raspy at high rpm's? is this just cause of the engine itself or the system? can anyone recommend anything else for the 3.8 ? thanks

are you talking about catback? or cat?
if your talking about cat back, i believe that it is the engine, cause i have it and i have no rasp to speak of,

Oh hell no! the LM is very raspy. the Texas rumbler is better but can still get a little rasp on the high rpms as well. I have heard the magnaflow is actually pretty good but i havent personally heard it so i cant be sure. Get us more info on what you want in an exhaust or if you truly are looking for a cat get anything but catco and you will be fine, cats dont add rasp.

i have the magnaflow catback and a magnaflow/carsound cat. It sounds good, i mean yea there is that unavoidable rasp above 3000 RPM's or so but i like it. Its nice at idle and it really screams when u get on it.

Get the magnaflow, it's a great exhaust sounds really good idle and up till 3-4000 RPM which I personally have never heard a 3.8 which the rasp was removed to my liking because I'm picking. The magnaflow is a great exhaust though you can't avoid the rasp unless you get a turbo ;) or something like that. With my headers it sounded pretty damn good and I always got compliments.
