I have a flowmaster 80 series with 3" resonated tips and it sounds pretty good, but I heard it would sound alot better with 3" piping. I was wondering about how much it would cost to get 3" piping from my cat all the way to the muffler and how will it effect the sound . Any info is appreciated, thanks.

I got my 3 inch I pipe for about $100. It makes the exhaust sound totally different. Much much better. I say go for it.

I would get rid of the resonated tips.

What's wrong with resonated tips? I thought they where supposed to smooth out the sound and tone down the raspiness

i am not sure but i think you can get a stock Z i pipe off a 93 Z and it is 2 3/4 inches all the way up to the cat. if you get a 98 Z i pipe it will stop at the s pipe and you will have get the s some other way. i think you can get a 2 3/4 inch i pipe from a salvage yard for maybe $16.01 or free off a Z owner willing to give you his if he has an aftermarket catback. i read somewhere that some guy got his 3in for $100. my shop told me $135.
and the sound will improve.
and yes get rid of those tips. ;)
good luck

you dont need to get the tips. when i got my i pipe i paid 16 bucks for it. with the stock Z muffler it was going to cost $60, but i already had my dynomax, so i didnt want the muffler. about the tips, i was just playing follow the leader and wanted to give props to fasttoys.net on his tips.
