Does the whisper lid need the k&n gasket

I just bought a whisper lid. I already had a K&N filter. Origanally the K&N filter came with a gasket for the air box lid when I bought it. Do I need to use one with the whisper lid?

If you don't have a gasket, you can make one from weatherstripping-type stuff from Home Depot.
