• Alright! I've almost got my theoretical intake and exhaust down! few more questions

Let me start by saying I've searched on all of this stuff.... and read... and read... and read... for hours and hours.

Alright behbeh! I'm getting hyped up. I plan on doing a lot to my car after I get it, have driven it around a while, and know if anything is wrong with it or not.

Here's what I know I want so far

Super Sucker Ram Air
RK Sport Headers with custom weld to avoid leakage

I have no idea what high-flow cats are good. I'm looking at a 3" system from start to finish so what do you recommend? I don't want to run straight-pipe.. I want to be legal.

For exhaust I'm really torn...

I want either the SLP Loudmouth, or the TSP Rumbler... I'm wondering about the TSP true dual exhaust though... I've heard that no true dual sounds good on V6s... but perhaps this is an exception? I think true duals would add more power right?

I've heard great things about Loudmouth and the Rumbler in regard to sound... so I guess that takes it down to performance. Does anyone have numbers or know anything? I've heard nothing about the true dual so far and I'm interested in that.

...and a new can opens up. Tell me about a lid/available lids. I thought lids were only required for the SLP CAI mod or the standard Ram-Air of the LS1. I heard about the whisper lid a lot. Will that work? Is it the best?

Thanks and everyone please respond to my other questions too

Whisper lid can definately help with air flow or you can just customize your own lid. To make your own lid you need to break and sand down all of the fins that stick out on the inside of the lid. This will allow better airflow. You will also need to drill a hole for the air sensor, and find some 3" duct to run to the throttle body. I am sure their is a complete write up on here somewhere.
For Cat, Catco has 3" In/Out which is cheap but can break down quickly.
A lot of people recommend the Carsound cat (probably my next purchase).
And I guess Random Technology has a pretty good cat too. So you will just have to take a look at prices and remarks from owners to figure out which you want.

How about the exhausts guys? Your experiences?
SLP Loudmouth
Rumbler
Rumbler True-Dual

Had experience with any of these? Basically I've heard Loudmouth and Rumbler sound awesome and I'm trying to find an excuse to buy one or the other... price is not really a factor... but if one flowed better or something... that would be reassuring. Same with Rumble True-Dual... I know nothing about that.

Thanks, btw. Imma make a seperate topic 'bout cats 'cause I have a few questions and I don't want to hijack this thread.

Don't ghetto rig your own lid. Buy one you won't be sorry. Its bigger then stock all around, very nice mod. Btw I also don't recommend rk sport headers. They have always been crappy headers and will always be. Only reason in my opinion people even have them was because they were the first company to offer headers (and they still have the original problems  )

Yeah, I've heard of their problems : / I'm torn between them and the CIA headers. Read this: http://www.projectvirus.com/ultimateexhaust/

Basically I want to buy the best the first time.. and it seems that while CIA is better quality from the start... if I get a custom thicker flange welded onto the RKsports like Stefan I could take advantage of the larger size and also have a leak-free header set.

and yeah.. I'm definately buying the lid lol.

K for 1... project virus is out of date. New parts have come out since that was written. Catco = POS, RKsport = most worthless header, Flowmaster = worthless muffler that will never again touch any of my cars. So yea that basically puts a damper on stefan's out of date idea of "ideal" muscle car sound

2. My pacesetters own lol. I don't have problems with them. If your only choice is RK sport or CIA. Get the CIA, rksport is NOT a good header.

SLP two-on-the-left! still the best-flowing (but not loudest) exhaust on the market

Yeah, I didn't agree with the flowmaster or the catco crap.. I knew they were bad... I just thought what he said about RKsport sounded good.... Oh well.. I want to get CIA then. Pacesetters are good, but I want a 3" ceramic system and I've heard CIa are top notch.

So now a random system I've never heard of enters the mix? 2-on-the-left? I'll research -_-' *sigh*.. when does the research end? (or perhaps when does the unsureness about what's best end?)

I think you mentioned in another post that you're getting a 97? If so, a lid won't work. They're only for 98+. But I'm sure you already knew that, since you did so much reading. ;)

I got the Pacesetter headers, and the TSP rumbler. I am very happy with both. The only problem that I had was that I had the "bad" batch of headers. I have a small leak but all I need to do is either get underneath the car and tighten down the bolts, or get it custom welded. I am very happy with the sound of my TSP, still has rasp but you can't really get around that.
