help me fix an EGR leak

when i replaced the hose/mounting unit, i reused the gasket cause i couldnt get a new one. the gasket looked in good shape but i think its leaking. i got gasket material and i was thinking of making one but i know that the gasket has like a metal piece in the middle, can i use the all paper gasket?

honestly.. a paper gasket will probaby jsut burn up.. only cuaing you more trouble.. got to GM and get the part.. that little gasket cant cost too much..

they wont sell just the gasket. i have to buy the egr too. and i couldnt find a gasket anywhere, atleast it would take a day to get it. i was just hoping i could go ahead and use what i got. i'll hit up o'reilys tomorrow

rofl.. ****er.. i dont know about from a dealer but from gmparts direct they only come in packs of 5..

they are only $2 each.. but since you have to buy five it will be $10 + shipping..

yeah I think its the only one occording to the picture..

Hmmm all I had was some rubber loooking thing the piping is attached to.. wouldn't call it a gasket its too thick.

thanks for the part number. i bet those bastards at the dealer were just trying to get me to buy the egr so they would get more money. its **** like this why i love this site so much and come to it everyday.

its a gasket, it was two paper gaskets pretty much with a metal gasket in the middle. i'll go to a part store tomorrow ans see what i can get. i dont really want to pay 10+ for five when i could pay less and just get one quicker ;)

so is this only on the newer cars for some reason? i see you guys all have 2000 engines. mine has no gasket, or if it does, i sure cant find it.

i know the 3.8 egr unit changed from the 3.4. but you have a 3.8 so, im sure somewhere threw the years they changed it.
