  • IAC Valve

the past couple of months i've been having problems with high idles, first i cleaned the iac, then my idle was normal. about a week later it went bad again. This time I bought a new one and it was fine for about two weeks. then my idle went bad again. I was fustrated so i took it to a local shop. They put in another new one (they said i shouldn't buy things that have anything electrical in them from autozone, because they break more.) and scanned my car, and it's not setting off any codes. The problem has been fixed for about another 2 weeks. Today i got the high idle again but it was too late, so i'll have to wait till tommorrow. My question is is there anything else this could be besides the IAC, or what could cause my IAC to keep breaking? This is really starting to get me angry. Any help is appreciated. thanks

throttle position sensor? maybee? i dunno if that would give you a high idle unless it was on wrong or something plus it would probably give you a code.

the shop took of the IAC and cleaned it and the housing area and it fixed the problem. They scanned it again, and still no codes. They're only thought is that i have a bad ground wire that might be causing a feedback.

Besides replacing my IAC Valve because of excessively high Idle at times, I also monkied around with the Throttle Body Intake, and cracked the Gasket. That too was probably as cause of the idle problems I had, but my car has a 3.8 engine. I don't know much about a 3.4.
