I hear that the magnaflow has a flat tone high pitch, almost like the dynomax. I want something rumbly and deep sounding...

My magnaflow ss muffler sounds sweet. Single in single out and loud. I love it. Can't beat that straight through design.

I got a Magnaflow shortly after buying my car. I absolutely hated it. Sounded TERRIBLE. Very quiet, very ricey above 3,000 rpm. I switched to a full setup using Flowmaster as the muffler of choice and have never looked back.

Magnaflow is made by the same company that makes Cherry Bomb glasspacks. Pure rice. Flowmaster has always been the most popular exhaust for any American car, and that will never change... (check the exhaust poll at the top of this forum.)

Hmm, apparently not old enough to remember the good old days.
Cherry Bombs have been around for ages, they were used on American muscle long before the current import tuner craze inspired by f&f.

This may not answer your question...so my apologies...
I have heard that the Flowmaster Mufflers sound great on the V-6's and LT1's...and they have great flow numbers for these cars. For the LS1...the flowmaster sounds really good, but some have dynoed it to even lose HP's over the stock exhaust. (Heres the part that might help) I have the Magnaflow on my Formula...and I love it. It is of awesome quality and is proving to be more and more durable. Through the snowy salt and chemical infested Indiana roads of winter, all I have to do is spray it with a hose and the glimmering stainless steel structure shines like new. What would I do? I'd keep looking for more opinion (flowmasters are the more popular brand in this neck of the woods), and I'd look at price and build materials. If your car is ever exposed to any of the elements...you definatly want to go with stainless steel. Good luck and again, my apologies if this got you no-where.

I disagree... Flowmaster has always been the all-American muffler of choice.

I love my magnaflow also..

reason.. no resonance down low.. unlike flows or edelbrock.. those things will make you crazy..

as far as the upper rpms go.. its ok once it breaks in.. however.. its nothing to write home about.. but.. none of the big 3 (edelbrock, flow, magnaflow) really are.. they all do it.. no one here has good sounding exhaust.. might as well get something you can live with..

I run flowmaster with the dynomax bullet cat bypass. Love it! I'm gonna do some editing this summer to take away the high RPM rice sound but it does sound great. I get compliments all the time. People think it's an 8 til I tell em it's a 6. Go flowmaster.

flowmaster here .....u cant really get away from the ricey sound at the top end but the flow has an awsome sound at the bottom and mine has been mistaken as a Z until i get on it cause then the sound gets a higher pitch instead of just getting louder, but the higher pitch really isnt a bad sound. it just doesnt sound like a big block like everyone wants

Well, yesterday, I ordered a 3" Carsound High-Flow Cat, and the V6 Flowmaster Cat-Back (The one with the resonator)

I have to wait to send in the money for the Pacestter Header GP that I made it into.

I will give you guys pictures and video clips.

A muffler alone is not going to make your V6 sound like a big block.

Flowmaster full catback + headers + straight pipe/highflow cat will sound terrific.

Flowmaster muffler by itself sounds like ***.
