  • New Whisper Lid = service engine soon light

    Hi All,

I just installed a Whisper Lid and on the second start my service engine soon light came on.

I searched the forums and tried removing PCM BAT and PCM IGN to no avail.

I reinserted the sensor, making sure the clip was facing up (saw this in another post).

One thing that jumps out at me is the fact that the sensor does not really go into the hole in the lid very well. I removed the blue rubber gasket from the sensor and it went in a little further, but not much.

My thought is that the hole is too small and the sensor cannot fit in enough. Either that or I screwed up the sensor when I was making the swap.

As a last resort, I will take it to Auto Zone for a scan, but would not be able to do that for atleast a few days.

    Any thoughts or ideas?

    TIA,
    Mark

I would guess its the IAT sensor. Re-use your grommet from ur stock airbox and put it in the whisper lid. then make sure that the sensor is all the way down.

That sensor is a little tight, try a little elbow greese or a little soap to get it in.

After you get it in, just disconnect the battery for 1/2 an hour and you should solve your problems.

Oh, I didn't re-use the grommet from the stock air lid. Duh!

After using it, my light still stays on, but I noticed the idle was back to being smooth. I was a little rough w/o it.

It's getting dark. Tomorrow I will disconnect the battery and remove the fuses and see if the light turns off.

            Thanks all.

After putting the original original grommet back in and really opening it up, the light went out.

              Thanks everyone.
