Smooth air bellows "custom?"

I did the free airbox lid mod on my car, where you cut/shave and sand the fins down, along with the k&n filter. I deffienetely noticed an increase in topend power and response, felt a little decrease in the lowend though.
I raced a friend when ours were both stock, "well i had a kn filter", and I would beat him by a tiny bit, now we did the same thing but i had the modded lid and I pulled a bit further ahead, so of course he wanted it done also, lol

Anyways to the point, I hear slp sales smooth air bellows that also work great with this mod, but there like 50 bucks for a piece of plastic, has anyone ever custom made one if so what did you use?
