  • Flowmaster American Thunder Exaust System ?

Hey guys - I have a few questions about the Flowmaster American Thunder Exaust System. What is everyones intake on this system, especially the members who own one?

Im thinking of getting this put on my 2001 bird. Also thinking of putting on a pace setter hi flow 2.5" cat. Do you guys have any opinions on the pace setter too?

This has prolly been discussed b4 on here and sorry if this is a old subject, I am new to the board and just wanted to see what you guys thought. Thanks for any info you can give.

Does it have a deep throaty sound to it Aerapitis? All I have on mine right now is flowmaster 80 series muffler with stock exaust and a custom dual tailpipe and it sounds nice but want to add on a catback for better performance. So I am assuming with the catback its going to sound more better.

      Thanks for your input.

It does sound good, but you should get rid of the 80, if you ask me and put on a 40. Although you will lose the ability to have duals with a 40 series and an american thunder. You could just get a 40 series and get custom dual exhaust.

80's sound like **** to me.

Thanks fast 3.4 on your input. I don't have a problem with the 80 series. I wouldnt be able to get 40 anyways, I need a dual because I have Wings West ground kit and wouldn't look good with single pipe.

          Thanks Again,
          Brian

Also, a high flow cat will definitely make your exhaust sound better. Get one of those too if you can.

40 series on a newer car sounds bad. on older cars it sounds good. 80 and american thunder are better.

I have a full 3" exhaust from the headers back. pacesetter headers, big body cat 3" in/out, and flowmaster cat-back. it is very loud. I've been pulled over twice this semester by cops to tell me how loud it is and to tell me to get it fixed. it sounds great in low rpms and under load. but when you get to the higher rpms right before a gear switch there is some rasp. you will have this no matter what cat back you get.
