I want to by a cat converter but i am not sure what to buy a SINGLE 02 BOSS or a Dual, I have been asking aroudn here, but know one has given me a straight answer. Also i was wondering what a single and a Dual do and are they better than a converter that has neither?

The one with dual O2 boss's holds 2 O2 sensors... the one with a single O2 boss holds one O2 sensor. Most people on the board buy a catalytic converter with no O2 bosses, and have the shop reweld the post cat O2 sensor boss back into whatever new S pipe they use. This may or may not be the reason that almost all of the people with OBD II cars manage to get an SES light in a few months... supposedly the location of the O2 sensor changes the reading. I have been told by a shop that the best bet is to buy an aftermarket OBD II compliant cat that has an O2 boss in it for the post cat O2... so you may want to try a single. I don't know if they are right or not.Matt
2000 Firebird

FullThrottleV6.com

If your just changing out your cat there is no need to get a cat with dual o2s, unless you are planning on taking out the one from your y-pipe and leaving a hole in there, it beats me why else you would do it? If you had a custom y-pipe made I could see where you would need the dual, but you will not need to even touch the pre-cat o2 sensor at all. So yes! Get the cat with the single o2.
