  • Custom 3.8l CAI

Well I was bored today and made myself a CAI for my camaro. I previously had the stock airbox with some holes drilled in the bottom for more are in the car along with a drop in K&N filter. The new setup has 3" pipe with a cone filter on the end. Costed me about $50 when all said and done.

This has such a great sound, I can hear it sucking in the car and it is pretty sweet. It was about time I got rid of all that restrictive airbox crap anyways. I was thinking about going into the wheel well like a SLP or K&N setup but decided against it because it would be just another bend for air to slow down through. Instead I am going to build a sheetmetal box to enclose it from the engine bay like a grand prix setup.

Now just got to wait till spring and see if my 1/4 times improve from it.

looks nice and is certaintly an improvement over factory design. considering the harsh 90+* bend at the throttle body, i wouldnt think a smooth long bend into the area infront of the wheel well would hinder your setup at all. but then again, we wouldnt be talking about not even 1hp gain if you did it.

yea it is a 90* bend at the throttle body. It needs to be like that though because it is so close to the radiator. So the 1le elbow would be the same way. Also it is a 3"to4" 90* elbow so it isn't to harsh, just the inside wall is sharp. Look at the outer wall of the 90* and you see it isn't to harsh.
