Hey, I went to my local exhaust shop and I talked to them about what to get, and they said that the stock piping is 2.5" which is what all the kits come with and he said to just get a single muffler, because with 2 pipes it would lose power. Is it true that the stock piping is 2.5", and would lose power with two.
Stock size is actually 2.25". you will not lose power. What will probably happen is your torque curve will move up so you will notice a small lose in the low end grunt but in the end, you would gain HP. take some time and search about the many different ways to upgrade your exhaust system. you can do everything from true duals, a single 2.5" or 3" exhaust system. I recommend along with doing some searches, first listen to the sound clips on the sticky at the top of this section to hear all the different systems and notice what they have to make it sound that perticular way.
I'm guessing the exhaust shop assumed it was 2.5 because thats what the V8s come with stock (i'm pretty sure). With most systems, you will have one pipe all the way back, over the axle and then into one muffler with two outlets.

v8's a 2.75. shop was probally just guessing. you wont lose any power having two pipes. 99% of the aftermarket exhuasts have one pipe in two pipes out type muffler set up.
