  • 600 bucks for a Y-pipe??

my y-pipe is rattling. today at the dealership we put it up in the air, and tapped on the cat/y-pipe

they tried saying it was the cat rattling, and that sincee it's an aftermarket cat, it wont be covered under warranty. It rattled with the stock cat even, and still rattles with the new one. They said it's either the cat or the Y-pipe. I'm convinced it's the Y-pipe. I asked about buying a new Y-pipe and they said it may be an idea to fix it.

I talked to the parts guy at the dealership, he quoted me 600 bucks for a new Y-pipe which comes welded to a cat, which I don't need. He said that's the only way they come.

Where the hell can I get a cheaper one? the rattling is REALLY REALLY bad.

well headers come w/ a y-pipe for like 400-500 bucks
and I imagine an exhaust shop can make one for like 100-200 bucks tops

i wouldnt pay $600 for a y-pipe. you can get a custom one for at least half that price.

Try 1/6th of that quoted price. Damn dealers are *******s unless you know people there. If you are willing to pay that much you might as well get headers and have a Y pipe come with them. That will make your spintech sound even better i promise. :D

Otherwise any decent shop can make you a bigger better flowing one for around 100-200 at most. That will improve the sound as well.

I got my RKSPORT headers for $425 from tbyrne. There is no way I would pay that much for a stock Y pipe.

Either get headers which is what I recomend or get a custom Y pipe made from a exhaust shop.

go to summit racing and type in y collector and its like 35 bucks then have an exhaust shop put in the pipe probably run like 100 to 200 total

yeah, I'm definately not paying 600, I almost laughed when he quoted me. I'll try the local muffler shop, and see how much they charge.

I can't see why a Y-pipe would rattle. If it is loose at the manifolds, it can be tightened. If it is touching somewhere, it can moved or bent. A solid single piece of pipe shouldn't rattle. Try the local muffler shop and just ask them to see what it is.

I have the same problem, according to my mechanic, the y-pipe is a dual diameter pipe and the inner diameter sometimes breaks loose and rattles or closes off the pipe all together. He quoted me 610 for the pipe as well. I'll get headers before I but that dam thing.

$56 dollars for my y-pipe including new flanges. Screw $600 dollars. That was also done with 2.25 pipe.

What's the size of the stock Y-pipe for a 3.4? Will it be worth the money to get a larger diameter one?

My dealer quoted me $350 for just the part... and that was the bro deal. I'm buying some coated headers this week for $300. That should solve my problem pretty good.
