muffler w/no tips

[99 RS Camaro]

as the topic says......how much louder would it be if i cut the tips off my flowmaster 40 series....im talking about liftin my car on jacks...and the two rear exiting tailpiles, cutting them at the actual muffler....would this sound good/bad? anyone ever done this? sorry if this is stupid question...i dont know much about exhaust at the moment.

Probably a little louder, and worse sounding. But then again, I donno...

Not louder and better enough to justify the fact that you would be destroying the catback you paid good money for. Plus I think I heard that your exhaust has to let out past the gas tank. I dont know if that's true or not but I still wouldn't do it.

my brother tried doing this but didnt past inspection so he had to pay for new ones....i wouldnt suggest doing this

because im special lol its not an RS i really dont know why i say it is in my name,i know they quit making "RS's" prior to the '98-02 but when i got it it looked too plain, so i put some chrome RS decals on the sides and the back, my car is dark navy blue metallic, it looked pretty sweet, but after i got some new exhaust i got tired of them and took them off

The rs trim came out in 96. According to consumer guide, "a new RS package added lower-body aero trim and a 3-piece spoiler to base coupes and convertibles".

uhhh don't do that dude... Flowmaster has been doing this a long time. you are going to ruin the back pressure (hp) and your gas mileage and it won't sound right...Why the tips look good.
