Ok i got my hooker exhaust catback on and my catco converter on today... i feel a little improvemnt but not what i was hoping for totally... and i got my cai... do i need to let it break in first before i can feel a good improvment or am i getting exactly what i got now... i raced a 2002 gt tonight and lost by half a car length and im pretty mad about it.. i was hoping to beat that girl pretty good but i didn't.. so am i just over reacting or do i just need to calm down and wait and let it break in first, and man does it sound good... i love it.. sound's like a v8 at idle and at around 3000 but after that it get's a little ricey.. but i don't really car as long as it flow's good and i get up and get moving..

You want "feel" the gains like you want until you get better gears, or a cam or nitrous or a blower or something like that. All this bolt on stuff shows up in the quarter mile, not down low. Your car will probably feel worse than it does now if you get headers and no engine work or supercharger to take advantage of it. Nitrous would take advantage of headers too, but when you're not spraying... Slug.

We need a snail graemlin. :D

Now, I wanna vent! To date, I've spent a total of 2907.47 on performance mods, including labor with only one "do over", the exhaust. A guy with a stock v6 bird and a blower will eat my lunch. (Hint, hint.)

Nitrous guys will eat my lunch too...but that's nitrous.

      Okay, I'm done now.

Seems like you faired pretty well against the GT, so don't worry about it. You will notice differences later on in the Intake and Exhaust.

pull your pcm ign fuse and one other i think it's batt fuse. i not to sure on that last one. anyways basicly it resets your computer. then drive for a while. this will speed up the learn process. yes headers will help the topend. then get some gear.

This is very true because I just got Headers , Exhaust , and CAI , installed and my car doesnt feel any faster , it only feel faster on top end and my low end feels alot slow now. The guy who installed my mods said that I should get gears if I wanna feel the power . He said something about the compression of the car .

A 1/2 car length behind a 02 GT is VERY impressive. You should be happy, not mad.

With an M5 going to 3.42's isn't much of a gain, but the LSD will allow you to launch at higher rpm's. For better gains with the M5 go 3.73's and LSD.

Oh and definately reset the PCM, do that after any performance mod, it speeds things up greatly.

I never reset my computer, BUT I installed the majority of my Mods 1,000s of miles ago. Would resetting it now be pointless? Just a thought. BTW, I've always felt SLIGHT differences after each mod so maybe I have a quick learning computer?

Too bad you don't have an auto, then you could get a converter and really feel the difference. Next best thing is gears and a good hard biting clutch. If you seriously want to feel the difference, get 4.10s. The JET SCU will fix your speedo problems. I'll get flamed for telling you to have 4.10s but they work.

Example: A board member i know of (keeping his name secret) has a stock auto 96. His car has 4.10s (in an auto) and a dynomax 2.5" catback. His speedo is not recalibrated either. He ran a 15.0 in 85* weather on stock tires after having to coast to the line because he bounced off of the 90mph speed limiter due to the speedo being off. Once that is fixed he will be at least .1 faster. So you can get 4.10s.

The Jet SCU wont work he has a 5spd a SLP speedo adjuster probably would work though.
