Hey blackfirebird01 - I'll give you my 2 cents. I just went through that myself and finally after many hours of searching and asking around I ended up getting a flowmaster catback exhaust. I couldn't really come up with anything from asking around because everyone has different thoughts on the different exhausts. Some say it sounds good on their car and others say it doesnt, so pretty much your back at square one. As for sound, one exhaust might sound good on one car but not on another since everyone has different stuff on their cars. So really you won't know until you have a exhaust put on Your car before you will be able to tell if you will like it or not. I was going to go with Borla, in my opinion think its prolly the best since its stainless steel and comes with a 1,000,000 Mile Warranty! The down side its the most expensive but you get what you pay for. But that isnt what stopped me from getting the Borla, I didnt like the 2 tips coming out of each side and didn't want that too ruin my appearance on my bird. I went with flowmaster because I have a flowmaster 80 series muffler on their now with the stock exhaust and it sounds good like that so figure adding on the flowmaster catback it wont hurt the sound any and most important it will be better Performance for my bird, downside for flowmaster is that it isn't stainless steel, so won't last as long as a borla exhaust and you don't have that big of a warranty on it. Good luck in whatever you decide. I am having my flowmaster catback put on tomorrow.

Hey gugdathug - whats up!
Yea I am not to fond of the exhaust tips on the borla, it was the only thing stopping me from getting it. I almost bought it and was going to just let it go with my dislike in the tips but couldn't do it. I like the tips I have on my bird now, I got them few years ago (don't ask me the name of them cause I forgot but they look good). Anyhow we all have different tastes and that isn't a bad thing. Thats why it's so hard to ask fellow car buddies on these boards their thoughts on certain parts that your going to buy because you end up back at square one most of the time. Once you think you have something narrowed down that your going to get, you hear some people say some negative things and you start second guessing yourself. So really just got to take a chance and get what you think is going to be right for your car and take it from there and hope it was worth it. If not, you either live with it or try something else.

Is it a good idea to coat the flowmasters with a protective material since it isn't stainless steel?MY RECORD LABEL @ www.lostartproduction.com
MY BAND @ www.myspace.com/jonnybassman
1994 3.4L MARO
K&N, custom chrome, extended piping
Flowmaster 80(CatBack)
Bilstein shocks (F49)
32mm 1LE front
Granatelli Tubular LCAs
walbro 255

i had a flowmaster catback for 4 years. never had any problems with it.
check out the Texas speed rumbler also. its cheaper than most catbacks and sounds excellent on v6s and v8s.

if you want loud get the loud mouth or texas rumbler, if you want a little milder the magnaflow is great (i dont like flowmaster personally), if you want an exhaust that wont rasp your only real option is a trans am take off (this is what i have). You can also add a 3" I-Pipe and a cutout so you can have a performance wh exhaust when you want it (this is also one of the cheapest ways to go). If you ever want to meet up with me i'll let you listen to my exhaust and i can show you why i didnt want a performance exhaust all the time. I'll also give you a card for the guy that did my exhaust (did a great job)2001 Arctic White Firebird With Black Drop Top

3:42 Gears
Zexel LSD
BMR upper A-Arms
Trans Am exhaust with 3\" I-pipe and cutout
Modified intake
Mecham Hood
Trans Go shift kit
Making rear control arms and panhard
