You should get the fast toys ram air kit "same as slp but has ram-air plates", along with a whisper lid and high flow filter.

Then you would be making more hp than the KN FIPK because it would be collecting and forcing cold air from under the car instead of sucking in warm air around the engine bay like the FIPK does.

kinda hard to explain, I almost bought the FIPK II but was told how they aren't the best setup etc etc

I have to agree with LTR450HQ.com about the K&N intake. But I think that I may have found a better intake in my opinion than the fast toys ram air. This one is the Austin Ram Air Kit http://www.lmperformance.com/1858/13.html Check it out here. To mo it looks like it would pick up more air since the air duct comes all the way down and forward. But this is just me talking. Anyways, that's what I'm putting on my Camaro

I c how you think that this will give u the best and the coldest air but I think u will be wrong now this is just me think LOL ok if you c the air goes from the bottom from under the car, but it will pas right next to the radiator and the metal will take on the heat and pas it to ur air. The K&N will not take the hot air from the engine compartment, if you c it till take the air from the “nose “ I have a firebird not a camaro and I have true RAM AIR (not the ram air hood that u c on the V8 but it is still there)and that’s why I think it will be possible to get more HP if I have a camaro that I think I would get the Austin Ram Air (SSRA)
K&N promises abut 7 hp and that what there testing shows, u can c it an they web site, all the other web site doesn’t have no statistics or anything

DUDE look through your nostrils on the firebird u dont have a TRUE setup unless you go through alot of work to customize the NOSTRILS to be functional!!

The slp is one step better than the FTRAIK becuase you can buy the lower RAM SNORKEL seperatly. This is important if you are concerned about water from puddles or rooster tails geting up into the snorkel. I have the FTRAIK and started off using the snorkel section as well. It made me nervous and I kept the block off plate handy but never used it.
When i added super charger I removed the lower snorkel section but still use the upper section that feeds the underside of airbox. Iwould have saved money by buying the SLP w/o the extra snorkel section.

Also, once you have the main SLP kit you can see how to make your own snorkel section. (VERY EASY...just 2 folds on a piece of sheet metal.)

i have a suncoast functional ram air hood and air box..its awesome..you can really feel the difference in pull and throttle response..and it LOVES this cold air

Hey 1DangerousV6, have you ever had a problem with rain or water getting through the suncoast hood? Inotice you have the full ram air package complete with the suncoast 'upside down' air filter box. I have the same hood on my LS1 car but I still use the stock air box. Basicaly the hood is just cooling the engine with fresh air in/out through the heat extractors.
I know there are baffles in front of the suncoast nostril inlets that make the air 'bounce around' a bit before passing through to the air box. Is this enough protection against rain storms and the like? curious because I live in seattle and that = lots of rain.

Chicago you seem to be leaning toward the k&n, then go with that... we are just giving the facts.

The Fast toys ram air made 14+ horsepower on a z28, I could see it making about 8+ on a v6, and thats without the whisper lid.

Your choice, I wanted the kn really for it's looks, but I decided more horsepower would make me happier [img]smile.gif[/img]

BTW I have the K&N System on my car and before that i ahd a whisper lid with free ram air and i cant tell a difference at all. Hope that helps.

nope..i've never had any problems with any moisture at all..and its my daily driver so i've driven in CRAZY rain..you should make yours functional man..your boost will LOVE it [img]smile.gif[/img]
