what type of pipes do i need for my exhaust? i know i need a 3" y-pipe. but thats all i know. i have always heard about s-pipes and h-pipes but i dont know what they r. can anyone tell me what i need to buy cause i dont want the muffler shop to screw me by over pricing. so im trying to buy stuff myself. i have a 3" catco cat ready to go on and i have pacesetter headers on the way. do the headers come with a y-pipe? is it a 3" pipe? please help. can i buy the pipes some were as a whole or do i need to buy each straight pipe and bends seperatly? help please

Advance auto parts sells dynomax 3" I pipes (2 pieces) for around 80 bucks. Tell em you want exhaust pipes for a 2000 TransAm/Z28, not V6.

Because 3" pipes aren't listed for V6, only V8s. And yes, the pipes are 3" and mandrel bent. Part numbers are 53061 and 54064.

The headers do come with the Y pipe, but I think it's a 2.5".

Good luck finding the dynomax I pipe, I have like 5 advance autos down here in the tristate area and none of them carried it, I heard itd take a few months to get one into me if I special ordered it. But BLLDOGG i'm kinda confused about your questions. But hopefully I can offer a little helpful advise. Your pacesetter headers should be coming with a y pipe and you already have the cat so those problems are solved. Now you need an S pipe and the I pipe (over axle pipe). If your buying pipe you want to make sure you get stainless steel or aluminized steel, otherwise it's going to rust out on you pretty bad. Hint* stay away from those autoparts stores that carry pipe. It will probably cost you more to buy the pipe, get an exhaust shop to mandrel bend it perfectly (especially 3in) and then have it installed. If I were you i'd honestly look into a 3inch catback system with everything included. I understand that their might not be an abundance of exhaust shops in oklahoma but theres a big chance your going to get in way over your head. It's best to just save up some extra cash. I've been through so many exhaust systems before I got smart and started getting them put on right. Anyway I wish you luck dude and take it easy.

The Y-pipe will connect to the Cat. All you need is the Cat-Back.
