i will be straight up with you. I think its a waste of money. For what you will pay to get them and to get them put on (if u dont do it yourself) will run you around 400-500$. You do notice a difference, not much in my opinion to justify that much money. Me personally, i have leaking problems with the egr, and to prevent leaks on the gaskets to the block, i retorque the bolts every 1,000 miles. For what i spent on headers and install, i could've gotten a LSD, gears, and install kit. I dunno what year fbody you have but my 02 sensors on both banks went bad and threw codes, got horrible mileage for a while till i replaced them and got an after cat 02 sim. I dunno, but to me, it seems once i put the headers on, i had a bunch of other little things pop up and go wrong. Maybe bad luck. It would be a good idea to get a tune too after headers. I still have a stock tuned PCM, and with a tune i think i could squeeze out another 10hp. Anyhow, enough of the negative stuff. Benefits: The fact you have headers, make the exhaust sound better, bragging rights, spark plugs/wires EASY to change, cleans up engine bay, pick up maybe 8-10hp. Thing to remember, how deep are your pockets!

If I install the block off plate, can I remove the plate later, reinstall the EGR just for an emmissions test, pass the test, and put the block plate back on?

Basically, cheat the system making it legal for the test and block it off after the test.

Someone in an earlier post said that it would hurt your gas mileage and didnt recommend blocking it for a daily driver. My 97 RS is my daily driver.

Nevermind. Got my answer on that. Not a good idea. If the EGR leaks, I'll still fail the inspection anyhow. If it doesnt why block it in the first place!?
