I called the muffler guy and he said it was the standard 40 series, not the delta flow. He said the only difference is that the Delta Flow had lower interior resonance. I bet your car is going to sound bad with a straight pipe, I wish I didn't have a cat :D !

That's what the Flowmaster website says. That the 40 Delta Flow has the same exterior "powerful" rating as the standard 40, but has a lower interior rating. So either one will be loud on the outside, just depends whether or not I wan't to hear it on the inside ;) . I already complain about my Flo Pro being to annoying inside now, and on long trips, it gives me headaches, so maybe I should try the 40 Delta Flow. I think I'll go with a single offset 2.5" inlet/outlet and put a dual SS style drivers side tip on. I think a turndown hideaway tip will resonate too loudly inside the car. With a tip out the back, it will cut down on interior noise. Thanks for the help pull7g's.
I just remembered something. I ordered a NEW spintech 343 SC muffler from a local wholesaler for $65  and never picked it up. I never paid for it either . So I could still get that if I wanted to. It's about the same price as a Flowmaster 40. And I could still get the dual exits :D . I've heard nuttin but good about Spintechs. I was  planning on getting that installed several weeks ago, but the guy never called me to tell me it arrived until weeks later. So I forgot about it completly. What to do ?
Thats not accurate, I had a 40 series delta flow (942542) and it was way quieter than when I switched to the 40 series (42441) and the DF doesnt have that distinct flowmaster sound that the original 40's do... I would go with a 40 series...
So the Delta Flow 40 is a lot quieter than the standard 40 . The Delta Flow is only suppose to reduce interior noise/resonance, not exterior. I just don't want a lot of interior resonance droning all the time. Choosing a muffler is so damn hard  .

Hopefully I'll have my Delta 40 installed by tomorrow (saturday) once I get off of work, I'll post my opinion on it afterwards. (hopefully I'll be using a instead the dreaded ) Guess we'll see.
Got the 40 Delta Series installed on the 'maro (after a lot of luck and a lot of Elmers wood glue). It sounds good, but quiet (at idle; louder than stock) and hollow-Remember, my car is stock, with stock pipes). I would suggest a cat-back. I know headers will deepen the sound.
When I first started it up, the first thing I thought of was a motorcycle...until my brother stopped by with his Honda bike, (we threw some revs) and I realized my exhaust didn't sound so bad after all, and at least it's something to listen to.
I don't know if the Delta is quieter than the Non-D as far as exterior noises goes, but it's definately quiet on the inside for hiway cruising. At 60 MPH I could hardly hear it. Get on it though and you'll hear it (Hmm, reminds me of the Dynomax Reviews I'd read). A friend at work had a Dodge Dakota V6, but no cat back, it sounds like that.
Bottom line: I like the 40 series, but change the stock pipes and get headers (from what I've heard on this board) and deepen the sound [or just drop in an LS1 =) that is whenever they create a "How To Drop in an LS1 in Just 10 Easy Steps].
What do you mean by "hollow"? That's great if it's quiet while cruising, but how loud does it get when you "get on it"? Is it a noticable idle(loud enough to hear without reving)? Sounds like it's awesome man .
What size inlet/outlet is it, and what offset? How big can I go on the inlet size and still match it to the 2.25" over axle pipe. I know a 2.5" will probably fit, but what about 3"?

Just had a light bulb go on in my head  . Wouldn't this be possible? Take a 40 or 50 Delta Flow and next to the inlet pipe, cut out another hole using a hole cutting drill bit, and make a second outlet for the muffler. I know this sounds kina nuts , but this would make sense. Picture it like this, it would look just like the 80 series, it would be a Cross Flow style. I know that the internal baffles are designed a certain way and that it would be louder. Yes, I know what your thinking, isn't this the same as the 80, and why not just buy the 80 already  . Well obviously the 80 series sounds ricey at high rpm's, and isn't perfect on v6's. I just want to be different . I am probably going to buy a 50 Delta Flow soon, part #942453, or 40 Delta 942443, with offset 2.25" in/out. Will try to install myself ;) . I know I'm crazy :D .

By hollow I just mean it doesn't have that deep rumbling, gurgling thunder that is the V8. Like most have said, the V6 has its own sound.
It's noticeable, and you don't have to get on it very hard to hear it (I even had the radio on). It has a nice growl to it, and I haven't noticed any riceness to it. While cruising it seems to melt away. But at idle there is a growl to it. If you've ever been coasting (slowly) thru a corner, then eased on the gas and heard that the quiet growl on the stock...It sounds like that only amplified. The muffler is being to grow on me.
Today I noticed the voltmeter is low, between 10.5 - 11. as well as the CHECK GAGE. :( Even while driving it stays there. Could this be caused by the muffler throwing the comp off? Or is this more serious? grrr. Haven't had any problems til just today.
What is the inlet/outlet size of your muffler?????
The low voltage has nothing to do with the muffler. It's either the battery or alternator. If the car has trouble starting, but the volts are normal while driving, then it's the battery. If the volts are down like yours, then it's most likely the alternator. I've replaced mine twice in 2 3/4 years. Get a new one from NAPA, cost a little more, about $120, but it is NOT remanufactured and has a life time warranty . Glad you like the muffler :D . I'm still deciding which one to get . I'm tempted to take a hacksaw and saw off my Flo-Pro and run open pipes .
Hey guys. For starters I’ve always been a big car guy, I love all types of cars and can appreciate all types of engineering. I’ve always been a Chevy...
