  • The official "is Ceramic Coating worth it" thread

Ive been thinking and reading a lot about this recently. Seems to me the people on this site overrate its cooling capibilities. Im sure they keep the engine bay cooler, and even deter rust, but are they really worth it? I cant believe that ceramic coated headers are going to make a 100 dollar difference in my running temp. I think a 10 dollar thermostat and some water wetter would do a better job of that.

Yes, i admit they look better, but thats about it.

The other thing that the coating does is keep the inside of the pipes hot, which helps to scavenge the cylinder better. Basically, you want to keep the exhaust charge as hot as you can for as long as you can, because it moves faster the hotter it is....hence, it gets out of the way of the other exhaust charges faster. There are also other effects that it has, but I'm too tired to go into it all right now.

It's a thoussand million times worth it, because of underhood temperatures. Do it.
