  • why can't we run a dual cat setup too?

don't the v6 and v8 bodies have the same space underneath? cause i have an LS1 I pipe on the way, and am gonna change out my y pipe too since i've already got tubular manifolds. theoretically can't we do it? custom custom yeah yeah yeah i know that. i'm sure it could be done, why not?

I checked underneath my car when I installed my polyurethane tranny mount back in July. I would worry about stuff hitting the pipes because they'd hang lower than where that single pipe can just fit as in the space provided for it. Just go for it... and watch out for road debris.

It's been tested before, and 2 things came out of it.
      1) it sounded like complete A S S
      2) it wasnt as powerful on a dyno as a regular cat back system.

My good friend did it with a 95 Mustang and 50 series Flowmaster mufflers, and it sounded way deeper than my 80 series! (especially after I hit 4.5k RPM)

        Is it really not possible?

why would you want more back pressure with an extra cat on a v6? It is still not even true dual exhaust.

Well i thought that it might sound better, i'm not talkin about true dual exhaust here. (just a clarification). Who did it before, I never remember anything being said about it. And i'm doing a catback anyway, not just the cats. Well if this is a dumb crap idea then what about just using the stock LS1 y pipe (already got the tubular manifolds) and adapting it to them with just one of the cats?

I'm sure you can do it if you want. After all, the LS1 has the dual cats on the y-pipe. In fact, had GM done that to begin with with the 3.8, they could have flattened that passenger sized hump (since no cat would be under there). Doing that would enable them to pull some more power out of the engine also (since it would be running cleaner). Since your car wasn't designed that way to begin with, I would worry about too much back pressure. Maybe if you used pretty large cats, it would help it out.
