This might sound like a stupid question but what is different about a o2 sim to a o sensor?

you don't want constant reading all the time from the pre-cat o2 on obd2. if its constant it will set code and you'll stay in open loop.
constant is okay for post-cat sensors, since these sensors monitor the efficiency of the cat. you want a more steady voltage output from that one, which won't happen if you gut your cat and leave in the original post-cat o2. thats what the sims are for. a sim in the place of a pre-cat sensor will set a code and leave you in open loop. bad fuel economy, tcc clutch does not engage, more exh emissions.ASE Master, L1, X1, C1.
