  • pulled o2 sensor...

So i was messin around under my car, and i pulled out the o2 sensor by the cat. Just for the hell of it, i wanted to see if it'd set off my ses light, so i turned the car on. It did not set off the ses, but i noticed my exhaust had a louder, deeper tone than with the 02 sensor in. I thought this was wierd since its just a very tiny hole thats being opened, but i really liked the sound. Would it hurt anything to leave the o2 sensor out? My ses light isnt coming on, the the only bad thing i could think of would be that the exhaust fumes would be under the car, but this happens when you have a cut-out anyways. Basically, it is like a cut out, a very very small one lol.

So yea, will it hurt anything? i dont think it would but i just wanted to make sure

I am not an expert, but I would imagine if you sensor is still hooked up, it is trying to read the air under your car and eventually it will fail on the low side due to low voltage (i.e no exhaust gas to send a resistance) ? I would say get an O2 sim to replace the sensor.

As far as sound, I did a similar thing with the Borla closed block-off plate. Drilled a few holes for noise, so may car doesn't rattle the neighbors house as much as the open Borla plate
