• Anyone with ram air: how do you clean your filter?

I got the K&N filter recharge kit and went to work on my air filter tonight, but I've got little bugs caught in the bottom side. Does anyone have a good quick way to get them out? Also, do I re-oil both sides of the filter, or just one?

Take a hose or use the faucet inside of your house and spray the water from the inside (engine side) of the filter towards the outside (where the air first comes in) to push all of the debris off.
Let dry for about an hour, the respray the outside with a light coat of oil.

Also nice to know is that some places sell larger spray bottles of the cleaner. I hate how the standard charger pack has an oil bottle that lasts 6-8 changes and cleaner that lasts at most one.

I get mine at Last Lap. A six pack of quart spray bottles (_real_ spray bottles, no tiny hairspray spritzer) @$6.50 each will last me a long time. 1 and 5 gallon pails are available if you're thirsty :)

This is why I raise my airbox and don't cut out the bottom of the airbox.

Have fun cleaning that air filter.

raised aitbox mod is useless. there is not enough air coming in for it to make a difference. and a underbody ram air is waaaay better than the air box lift mod

I can't see how raising the airbox half an inch would help either, sorry Dominic ;) Anyway, I took a slot screwdriver after my filter and picked the bugs and dirt out. Kind of a pain, but the cleaner just wasn't doing it for me. I really just need to get a real ram air kit with a plate, that way the air will flow up better.
