• Just Put on my Flowmaster Cat-Back!

Hey guys, I'm on my way out, so I'll post more later, but I just wanted to let ya know, I just installed my Flowmaster Cat Back tonight.

Took me about 5 hours, including dinner I only drove it for a few mintues so far, but I like the sound. Has a deeper tone/more sports car sounding, but yet isn't too loud, which I didn't want to be very loud.

From my short test drive, I can vouch that there is a SOTP differance

    I'll give more details later.

Part #17357 is the one listed if you go to the Flowmaster site that they have a sound slip of on a 99 bird 3.8 and the sound clip sounds mean as hell

Sorry, but that clip on the flowmaster site is The 3.8 clip and the 5.7 clip are exactly the same.

Yeah, I can tell ya, that clip is MUCH more powerfull sounding then mine sounds. Maybe it will get deeper as it burns in.

Don't get me wrong though, I'm very happy with the sound, its very mellow, but has just a bit more rumble then stock, which is just what I was looking for.

I don't have numbers, but you can really feel the performance gain also.

Yes, I know he said it was a Flowmaster Cat-Back, but like Distephano figured out, I wanted to know what setup he went with. Thanks for filling me in man. Oh and shortdog is correct, the sound clip is the exact same clip for the 3.8 and 5.7. And if you really know the sound of a V8, you'll know that clip is most definitely not of a 6.

Where did you buy it from? I can only find the 17357 at BigExhaust.com and it cost 336 bucks there. At summitracing, I can only find the on for 98+ and it is only 271.

What does the American Thunder sound like at idle? And at what RPM's does it start to sound ricey?

American Thunder sounds very nice at idle at at all RPM's of course I also don't have a cat, I have the dynomax in place of the cat and that makes it sound TIEEEGHT!!!

Yeah the Dynomax makes a big difference for me and 2002firebirdguy. If you want it to rumble even more, get our setup, if its legal for you that is.
