I have a magnaflow 3.8L catback I am trying to sell in the for sale section. A lot of questions about fitment on a pre98 3.8l. (i.e. 96 & 97) I am almost 100% sure it will bolt right up but I would like to here other feedback before I tell someone it will fit. BTW, if you are interested be sure to check it out in the for sale section. It's a Magnaflow catback New in the box for $300 shipped. Let me know back on some information.

It will fit, the hangers are the only difference. Nothing an exhaust shop can't take care of!

I went to an exhaust shop today and they said that the pipes over the axles are different for these systems.
They are charging me an extra 100 bucks to make it fit and since I had a great deal in buying this 98+ system I guess I will just pay the price.
If anyone knows any other solution than having to custom make a fitting pipe please let me know so I can tell the exhaust shop, they are friendly and open minded. Any F-body exhaust from '82-'02 will fit our cars... if an exhaust shop is being a ***** go to another one... the only thing that has changed over the last 20 years are the hangers.Black \'97 Camaro RS See Pics 3.8L, 5 Spd, Disc Rear, Hurst short shifter, MAF Screen Removed, RK Sport Headers, 3\" Cat, 3\" FM American Thunder Catback, Compcams .512/.507, (2x)275/40/17 Khumo 712(front) (2x)285/40/17 Good Year F1 GS-D3 (back).

well this is what magnaflow said "The axle pipes are different so you need to custom make one to make it fit" This is not what the exhaust shop said, they just called magnaflow and I even spoke to them.
Anyone know for sure that the hangers is the only thing?? I will talk to the guy and see if he can check the exhaust out better.2005 Chevrolet Corvette C6
M6, Magnaflow\'s 14336
C6 Pics

Old car:
1996 Firebird A4
SLP Cold Air Intake
Magnaflow Catback Exhaust
Magnaflow Catalytic Converter

George Mason University
CEIE Major
Pi Kappa Alpha

Firebird Pics

I took a SS exhaust system off a 98+ SS and it bolted right up... nothing was different other than the size of the pipe... but NOTHING was different it bolted right up... the left side bolted up to the body and the right side hanger slid right in... the pipe went over the axle just fine and dandy... i did this last night so ya know...96 3.8L V6 Camaro 5-Speed
Vroom Vroom
No Power Doors / No Power Locks
Removed Jack and Spare
CarDomain - Mikerob283
