I got an e-mail today from clear image, my headers are on the way He said to make sure I get the studs out of the block, to use the new bolts. Looking at them they just have one nut on there. Do the studs usually come out with the nut removal? Also, I can see the top two on each end on the drivers side, but not the center. Is the heat shield in the way? It looks like the valve cover has to come off, but that's not correct is it? What all do I have to take off to get to all these bolts, besides the y- pipe to get to them? I heard the plugs and wires, (possibly the starter, and someone said the steering shaft)but wouldn't I run the risk of getting crap in the cylinders from the removal of the old manifolds? Thanks, Jessica

I've been trying to find info on the web for this mod, but not much out there, especially for a newer FB like my 99.

Some of mine didnt and some of them did. If they dont that have tiny hexs on the end so you can still get em out.

Make sure you soak them in a lot of PB blaster or WD 40 before you try. Also, they probably will not come out just by the hex ends. Normally the easiest way to pull them out is double nutting them.

you should take the plugs out so you dont brake them off in the block, but first take all then heat sheilds off and throw them away then the plugs and wires, then soak them with penatrating oil of some kind while that sits work on the y-pipe then a ratchetin wrench is worth its weight in gold to get the old ones out and put the new ones in........and dont expect your EGR tube to fit right in they are a PITA to get in correctly without having them lea

Just yank it while you're ahead. Break the tube going from the egr to the header then block off the hole in the header. It does NOT throw a code that way and i have not noticed a change in my godly gas mileage either

What size of ratchet wrench? I have some but they are metric. I use the 19 for my sc pully bolt, but the kit came with four others.
