Search and you will find endless threads discussing the battle between 2.5 vs 3 inches.

I have the loudmouth btw and i love it. So to answer your question go for 3in.

      dont get the LS1 catback. get an LT1 catback for 3 inch system...it comes with a 3 inch S pipe...ls1 catbacks do not. LT1 = 1994-97 v8 fbody.

2.5 inch catbacks for your year vehicle are easiest to install.

an LT1 3 inch conversion is still very simple however.

      check it out....

I have the 2 1/2 inch and it works great for me, I havent really heard a 3 inch on a V6 though. My friends LT1 has the 3 inch on it and it doesnt sound much different than stock.

3 inch system is loud. 2.5 inch similar system not as loud.

my car sounds bad *** with the 3" system.

The 3" on 3.8 sounds much different than stock i.e. much better and louder.

I have Borlas 3in. system w/Clea Image headers and a gutted cat. I think it sounds good for a v6. A lot of people thinks between teh way my car looks and the sound of the car at idle tha its a v8. Some of these people just have the lack of knowledge about f-bodies. I say go with a 3in system on your car. Either Borla liek I have or SLP's loudmouth are great systems. Though i think the loudmouth system is a 2.4in system.

I've got 3" pipes with an AeroTurbine muffler, and it truly sounds like V8 to anyone that doesn't really know cars. I was told, "That's a smooth-running V8 you have there." It is somewhat loud, but not Loudmouth-style.
