• Air silencer

I know this subject has probably been beaten to death, but I need to know some stuff about it. I did a search and there were no straightforward instructions for removing it. What exactly does it look like, and how easy is it to do? What are the pros/cons of it? Just wondering, I was going to remove my friends air silencer for him because I heard that it was a good free mod to do. Thanks for the replies

What year is your car? 93-97 is different then 98+.

If it's 98+ then I would recommend buying the whisper lid, becuase it's a pain in the *** to do the free mod. Basically, what you do is connect the stock lid to the MAF Housing directly. That is, you have to remove the air silencer which is that black plastic thing behind the lid that the hoses connect to. How you connect it is up to you, some people use 3" PVC pipe. You will most likely have to buy a hose for the MAF end because the stock hose has strange dimensions - something like 9" on one end and 4" on the other. Overall, it's a good mod. Good luck!

            Here ya go:

Be aware though...removing the silencer on a 93-97 car isn't gonna make much (if any) difference in performance.

Hope this helps. Thats my web page, so if you have any questions after checking out the link, email me or just post here.

And BTW...That link is also in the Tech Database here (http://tech.firebirdv6.com/)...There's more to this site than just the message board.
