is it a universal 12" cat? if so, tell him to quit trying to **** with you and put the damn thing on. Only possible thing I could see is if you bought the cat for a dual cat-ls1 setup. those are shorter, I believe, but the universals shouldnt be any problem. you have a part number for the cat you bought? I can tell you for sure then.....

if you went to an exhaust shop for the install all the guy had to do was cut a little piece of pipe to make up for it... The guy's just a lazy a$$.

I dont know what his deal is but n e ways would it matter if i would put on a magnaflow high flow cat, or would gutting the stock cat completely and leaving it hollow be about the same thing?

you might need an s pipe. pull out your new exhaust, check it out, then get under your car and see what you need. why don't you just do it yourself? it's just bolts!

I thought the cat was suppose to be welded

you can use u bolt clamps to get everything up and installed. drive the car. adjust the system as needed...then when everyting is perfect with no rattles go in and have it all welded for 75 bucks.
