Ok got a problem, Went in today for the state inspection and found out that my catalytic converter is bad. The honeycomb structure inside is broke apart. Some of you might know that Pennsylvania is starting to due emissions coming up in Jan 2004. Now my problem is they want me to spend about 700 dollars for the stock converter, which i think is insane. I called and check and the converter is still under warrenty BUT i have had an aftermarket exhaust put on. Now the first question is will the After market exhaust void my warrenty??

I talked to the guy about it and he said that only a stock convertor would fit back on, because i told him about the catco. He said that it wouldn't fit because he wouldn't have room to weld it on. So my other question is should i go around and see if someone will put a catco on for me??? or should i tell him he is full of Sh*t and it will fit on?

    Thanx

first of where in the world did you get a number like $700, and i don't know what guy you talked to but any normal muffler shop can weld on a catco cat convertor, and you can get one from ebay for like 50 bucks

I think you misunderstood me. He quote 700 for a stock converter. I know you can get a catco for like 50 dollars but he said he wouldn't do put it on unless it was and exact fit like the stock one is. So my question was should i just go look somewhere else??? Or since i have an after market exhaust would that void out my warranty on my converter from GM???

take it to another generic exhaust shop.. they will weld anything you want onto your car for like $50..

What kind of testing did they do? did they put the car on rollers? or did they hook up to your pcm?

the catco may/maynot work for you in the long haul depending on how your state tests.

I have no clue how PA is going to start testing emissions. I'm going to call around alittle bit and see what kind of testing they are going to be doing.
