How many have just upgraded the muffler?

Maybe tips too. But for those who have just done aftermarket muffler and no pipe changes, How is it? Do you still notice a big difference in sound or power? Have you compared it with people that had pipes changed?

i just upgraded my muffler to a flowmaster 80 series on my 97 before i wrecked it. there was a small noticeable difference in acceleration, but the sound was superb. there is no need to upgrade the pipes. the flowmater sound is there regardless. i was very happy with mine. :D [img]graemlins/thumbsup.gif[/img]

Putting on an aftermarket muffler only will not do much of anything for performance, only sound. If you want to actually upgrade your exhaust, you need to get at least a catback, and if you want a highflow cat, new Y pipe, S pipe and headers. I know this because I used to have the borla rear section only, then I upgraded to a highflow cat and 2.75 I pipe and I felt a difference that I hadn't felt with just the muffler.

well here's what I can tell you. I went with just dynomax muffler and tips. All sound and no power gain.

Just installed a custom 2.75" catback and whoa damn better sound and better performance

ya I just upgraded to a flow 40 series...and it sounds good up until 2000...I dunno bout you but I go above that all the time....then it sounds like sh*t....Im upgrading soon...I might get custon side pipes :D :D

I have just upgraded my muffler to flow's as well. Sounds good just takes time to break in all RPM range sounds nice. CAI helps.
