• Stubles at 4000 rpms when idling......?

I can be in my car and rev it up to 4000 rpms and as soon as I hit it the car acts like it wont rev anymore. Its hard to explain what it does( its not a constant shutter just everytime I gives gas it will sutter) then when I let out of it the exhaust sounds like its about to fall out from under me car. I know this descrition is really vauge but I was wondering if my cat is fouled and this is why my car isnt acting right.

I cant be hitting a rev limiter at 4 grand. This is always happening at 4000 rpms. I am doing this in park of course.

I think there is a rev limiter while in park set at 4000 rpms. Try putting it in drive and driving it up to and past 4000 rpms. I think your "problem" isnt a problem at all, but rather a rev limiter for park on the automatics.

i went on a mission!!!
i went to my 96 A4 and tried out ur "problem" ...
nope no problem... it's definitely the REV limiter.
in park or neutral it stops at 4000 RPM's.

It's also referred to sometimes as a "Stall Limiter"..

yea it's between 4000 and 4500 when in neutral. If you want it higher...throw it in Drive roll a bit...throw in in neutral and you can blow by even redline for a second. Scared the **** out of me because I went to rev at some ricers and figured it would stop me at 4K. Went to 6400RPM and I sh*t bricks. You won't want to rev higher anyway since our cars sound like *** above 4K.

I'm sure we'd rather end up with something designed to be "Wrong" than something actually wrong with your ride..

Thanks for the help.

Anytime man.
