• Side Pipes?

I saw a 2000+ mustang with side pipes at the GS today, was wondering if anyone has done side pipes on their v6? If so, anyone have pics? (preferably of the routing underneath too)

This guy had them right before the back wheels under the doors.. (It was the Red Mustang with "STAGE 2" on the plates for anyone at the GS today in Va Beach)... my brother (my mechanic) said that I should have plenty of room, only problem would be running mufflers (you have to in VA).. I suppose I could mount the mufflers in the regular spots, but bring the pipes out sideways instead of straight back.. Would need to get a custom gfx skirt/bumper built for the back though... may look too rice though..

you'd probly have to run a true dual setup. you'd nee to get rid of the y-pipe, get another cat., have each cat right after the headers, then run piping down to the sides, along the door you'd put a buttil muffler(resonator) on each side, then have your tips after it.

Sorry, forgot I hadn't mentioned that... I'm planning on doing a true dual setup with the X-Pipe connector from the headers instead of a Y...

AHH but that is not true young grass hopper!!! I just got my car inspected thursday passed w/ oout any hassle from the DEAL were i bought it w/ NO muffler you do not have to have a muffler in VA. Now it sounds like two scoops of ape sh!t but i didnt have the money when i did it last year so this summer i will be gettting a cat back but for your purpose MAYBE w/ an x pipe it wount sound quite so harsh it is berable inside as far as noise level is concerned. Ask any coastal people how my car sounds theyt should agree that you dont want that. Tomcat once said it sounds like the briggs and straton that briggs and straton never made !! :D But i have the LEGAL inspection sticker on my car........
AIS 2 OHH the memories... Great times and putting names with faces.
From \"interesting\" hooters waitress(Did you guys FLY ? ) to pissing BMW owners off on the ride home. To ending up in Philidelphia and USING (hahaha) an ice machine. I had a BLAST.
Thanxs to all that showed up!!

Sweet! If that's the case, I'll get the guy who's doing my exhaust let me fire it up without muffler on it, and then put them on (probably going to run the Street Sweepers my buddy is getting rid of that he has on his mustang) and see how they sound... if I like it, I'll see what we have to do to get the side pipe setup, or just run them straight to the back...

btw, i'm planning on running true 2.5's to the back... the headers are 2.5, then cats, to the X then we'll see what happens from there. According to the guy at CAI, this setup will even work with the ATI SC kit once it comes out... rock on!
