  • CIA Headers and Borla system installed!

Whew, the exhaust has been the better part of the past 2 days...

I had to bend the a/c lines quite a bit, where they come off the back of the compressor, to the point that one is kinked a little bit. Not sure if this is typical of all headers for our cars, or what. Also had to slightly relocate the ground wire that runs between the two a/c lines, in order to get enough room to move one of the lines.

Also had to "adjust" one of the bolt holes in the middle of the passenger header, and had to adjust all three bolt holes in the driver side collector. A reamer came in handy for pressing against one side of the existing hole, in order to move the hole over enough. If I had just drilled the holes bigger, I would have gotten too close to the edge of the collector flange, and still wouldn't have gotten the hole moved over far enough.

Put the stock plugs back in for now. (74000 miles on them.) The gaps were just a little wide, but the double platinum tips were still fine, so I just tightened them up a hair. I'll probably be putting some ngk's in it when the s/c kit gets here anyway.

Also found out that an extra tire valve stem fills the egr hole on the intake just right... Looks a little funny though. I suppose you could take the core out and hook a gauge up to the stem...

Runs good, sounds good. I put on the plate with the smallest opening in it, and it's still loud. I'll probably end up putting the complete block-off plate in it, so it's not so loud inside the car. I wonder how it will sound with the completely open plate in it, when the time comes?!

Oh yeah, and forgot to stick the egr valve back on, so the ses light came on. Plugged it back in and it's just sitting there... Since the egr ports are both blocked off with block-off plates.

Still waiting on the o2 sim, for the post-cat sensor, so the light will probably stay on until then.

You sure you installed those headers correctly?
I didn't have nearly so much trouble. All I had to do was nudge the AC lines about a half inch to the left. It seems especially odd considering that the car used to test-fit when making the CIA headers was a '98.
